This is a second edition to my collection of magnificently hand-printed dresses by designer Kate Beaver. Kate and her artist partner, worked from their Dorset home. Throughout the seventies they ran a dressmaking business, screen printing material and making them up to Kate’s designs which were period inspired. What I love most about this Free Spirited Gown, apart for the beautifully billowing balloon sleeves, is the the vivid and wonderfully fascinating print using brilliant and dramatic colours. I have decided that this unusual print pattern simply must be berries entwined in a floral print. A whimsical design that just works. The dress has a simple clear resin button to the back of the dress, hidden shirred panels beneath the fluttering sleeves, simply pull-on and pull-off style dress. The only decoration comes from the adventurous print as well as the attractively voluminous sleeves. Nonchalant Seventies eminence.
Having typically enjoyed a previous owner and possibly years of storage, vintage clothes will naturally bear some evidence of their age and history
