This is an absolutely stunning late 1960s dress by an absolutely superb designer of the period, Janice Wainwright. Ms.Wainwright worked for the Simon Massey firm during the 1960s, and it was very clear that she was able to create designs that wore women to perfection. The infamous Ossie Clark highly regarded her work and this striking piece of vintage fashion is deeply reminiscent of his work at that time. The dress has a sheer abundance of black moss crepe, the incredible sleeves are softly puffed through the arm towards extraordinarily deep cuffs. With a high collar and long line throughout the wonderfully hugging bodice, the drape of this dress is marvellously weighty impeccable gothic renaissance.
Having typically enjoyed a previous owner and possibly years of storage, vintage clothes will naturally bear some evidence of their age and history
