Alley Cat by Betsy Johnson

A feisty little frock by Betsey Johnson, the cartwheeling fashion queen of Connecticut. Betsey is best known today, for her feminine and whimsical designs. In '69 she was part of the 'youthquake' movement and opened a boutique called Betsey Bunky Nini with Edie Sedgwick as her house model. In the early 70s Johnson took control of the fashion label "Alley Cat" which was popular with the rock 'n roll musicians of the day and captured the fun, youthful era like no other American brand at the time.
This hip chic little number is a testament to Betsey's flamboyant nature. Alley Cat by name and stripy alley cat by design. A fabulous long sleeve sweater style dress with crew neckline, A-line skirting and glorious piping detailing throughout. I absolutely adore the simple, yet classic cut, teamed with a striking vermillion and cobalt pattern - and of course a curled up kitty in the corner of the dress!. An absolutely marvellous dress, now very rare and collectable...

Designer Alley Cat by Betsy Johnson
Fabric No fabric label present - possibly wool/cotton blend
Labelled Size US 9/10 - but would fit UK size 8-12 - stretchy wool fabric
Condition / Flaws The fabric is 'As New' and the colours vibrant. Wonderful condition - considering it is actually close to my age! Very picky observations - tiny 2mm mark to r/h breast (barely visible - you have to look incredibly closely to even see it). The tiniest 3mm mark to r/h elbow - tried to capture this in my images. Tiny invisible mend (very well done) to the l/h cuff of the sleeve - seriously - you don't even notice unless of course you have a Sherlock Holmes magnifying glass! All detailed within my images and reflected in the price.
