Ms Muir naturally stood out from her art school colleagues and went on to master her trade in the fashion industry. She was revered as a dressmaker and eventually worked for Liberty, Jaeger and Jane and Jane during the 1950s and '60s. Well known for her work with suede and rayon (please see another beautiful Jean Muir Dress in Rayon we have for sale here: Jean-Muir-Racing-Green-midi-dress) her clothes were an ingeniously sophisticated demonstration of the fluid qualities of fabric.
I absolutely adore this dress. A beautiful and RARE land-girl /tea-party 1940s style dress, envisioned by one of my favourite British designers Ms Jean Muir. Probably launched in late 70s early 80s - this vision of loveliness is button through, from full ornate collar to calf skimming hemline, and with the most amazing fabric covered dotty buttons to boot. To be worn loose and fancy free. The main body of the dress is very lightly fitted to the body and flares slightly at the hip, with the help of wonderfully tailored darting, to give a very flattering silhouette. The short sleeves are ever so delicately ruched, adding another dimension to an absolutely astounding hand painted fabric. Spectacular, breathtaking, memorable - this is a dress to delight in...
